 Creative Clayworks’s ClayBaby Impressions are a truly special gift for you or a loved one. These completely customizable impressions beautifully capture your infant or child’s precious small size while allowing you to tailor the impression to fit your individual taste. ClayBaby Impressions are beautifully hand-crafted in my studio out of clay that goes through multiple steps of forming, firing, handpainting, and glazing. The final impression is far superior to the oven-baked clay or messy plaster kits that are on the market today. ClayBaby Impressions are heirloom-quality ceramic keepsakes that will last a lifetime and beyond.
Each impression only takes a few minutes. Your child’s hand and/or foot is gently pressed into the soft non-toxic impression material creating the impression. This material is not the clay that will be used for your final product. I find that the impression material is softer, easier to use, allows for fine detail, can be reused if mistakes are made; the process I use in my studio allows for the most ideal placement and design of your final impression. Another benefit (that I feel is the most important) is that each impression only needs to be taken once, regardless of how many impressions you order (they make great gifts!). I also hold on to your original impression for one year; if you decide to order more impressions within that time, the same impression can be used (Additional impressions cost less because you're not paying for the kit or shipment for the kit.)
At the time of your appointment, you will select the overall shape for your impression, font, color, personalization, artistic enhancements such as background or borders, and any add-ons if desired. Back at my studio, I work through a time intensive process to produce the finished product. Each ClayBaby Impression is handcrafted from white clay, bisque fired, handpainted to your specifications, glazed, and fired for a second time to a high-gloss finish. The impression is completed with a beautiful coordinating grosgrain ribbon.
